Kindness Runner Training Guide

🌸 Thank you for helping as a Kindness Runner! Your role is essential in rescuing event florals. This guide outlines everything you need to know to succeed.

πŸ“ Overview

You are responsible for:

  • Handling flowers with care, ensuring they are not damaged during transit from weddings and events (often late at night or early morning).

  • Transporting florals safely and efficiently to our storage site or distribution partners.

  • Communicating with event coordinators, venue contacts, and the Petal Kindness coordinator and representing Petal Kindness professionally and warmly in all interactions.

πŸš™ Step-by-Step Job Procedures

1. Before the Event

  • Review your pickup time, location, and point of contact provided by the Kindness Coordinator.

  • Make sure your vehicle has enough space, is clean, and is ready for safe floral transport.

  • Wear neutral or black professional clothing - remember, you often enter a formal event gathering.

  • Pack:

    • Floral Runner badge - available to pick up at our office location

    • Scissors (to remove any taped or zip-tied floral arrangements)

    • Flower buckets - as many as your car will carry - some are available at our office location

2. During the Pickup

  • Arrive and introduce yourself to the designated contact if available.

  • Confirm you are picking up for the Petal Kindness floral donation.

  • Gently remove the flowers from their vases and load them into the flower buckets.
DO NOT TAKE ANY VASES OR FLORAL HOLDERS UNLESS EXPRESSLY STATED.
Florists will come back to account for every vase.

  • Take photos if possible for our records and donor appreciation follow-up.

3. Transporting Florals

  • Drive carefully and avoid harsh turns or sudden stops.

  • Avoid leaving flowers in the car unattended.

  • Deliver flowers to: 2941 Lake Tahoe Blvd. South Lake Tahoe CA 96150 OR designated flower recipient (if specified).

  • Unload carefully and fill buckets with water if possible to avoid wilting.

4. After Drop-off

  • Send a message to the Kindness Coordinator confirming successful drop-off.

  • Share any photos to petalkindness@gmail.com
